During its regular meeting today, the Cabinet approved the priority directions of the cultural and creative industry and the resolution to support it.
Since 2001, the policy of developing the creative industry, which integrates science, culture, art, and technology, has been implemented worldwide. A goal has been set in the long-term development policy of Mongolia ‘Vision-2050’ to develop the cultural and creative industry as an independent sector. In this context, the Ministry of Culture has conducted a study of the cultural and creative industry based on international statistical research.
Minister of Culture Ch.Nomin informed during the press conference to present the decision of the Cabinet meeting, "The arts and cultural sector accounts for 1.3 percent of Mongolia’s GDP. 5,600 of the 11 thousand registered businesses in the sector are currently active, providing 33 thousand jobs. Based on this research, 12 main directions for the development of the cultural and creative industry were determined in cooperation with international consulting services. Based on Mongolia's competitiveness, resources, and heritage, six priority areas have been defined. These include Film, Visual Arts, Music, Fashion, Digital Content, Game Development, Literature, and Publishing. These priorities are planned to be developed based on eight policies and approved by the government.
