Ulaanbaatar, September 5, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The National Book Festival of Mongolia will be held for the 36th time on September 13-15, 2024, at Sukhbaatar Square, Ulaanbaatar city.

The National Book Festival is an educational and cultural event that attracts book lovers from the capital city and local areas of Mongolia, as well as publishers, writers, and literary agencies from abroad. This biannual Festival, held in spring and autumn, has been expanding its scope over the years.

This year's Festival is remarkable for being organized under the auspices of President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, based on Decree No. 158 issued by the President. In this regard, timelines of book-related events, that the Presidents of Mongolia participated over the past 32 years will be published. 

A special place is planned to be created for readers to personally meet famous writers, participate in book-related surveys, and discuss books in a relaxed setting while enjoying coffee and tea. Additionally, a new space will open for readers interested in writing a book. This space will offer opportunities to obtain translation copyrights through the "LIBRO PEARL Agency," access to book editors, bibliographic services, and assistance in selecting paper materials and calculating the printing price for their new book.

The organizers intend to create a pleasant experience especially, for male visitors, curating a list titled "50 Books to Inspire Men"  and presenting various surprises. Minister of Education of Mongolia Naranbayar Purevsuren has been invited as the guest of honor for this issue of “Nomiin Yertunts” magazine. The Minister will share his insights on books, the reading culture, and the Ministry's policy. A total of 5,000 copies of the magazine will be printed and distributed free of charge to readers exclusively during the Festival.

To encourage and support book authors and publishers, the Book Festival traditionally presents the "Book's Best Friend" award during the Spring Festival and the "Mergen Nom" [Wise Book] trophy during the Autumn Festival. The book lovers are looking forward winner of this year's Mergen Nom trophy.

Representatives from prestigious international agencies attended the 35th National Book Festival last year and met with Mongolian publishing companies. Also, representatives from Andrew Nurenberg Associates and Introtema Copyright and Translation Agency arrived with full scholarships as part of the Fellowship Program provided by the NGO "Nomiin Soyolt Yertunts." Additionally, representatives from Steppe & World Publishing in Kazakhstan presented a variety of children's books to publishing companies in Mongolia.

Writers and publishers from Russia, China, and South Korea will participate in the 36th National Book Festival.
