Ulaanbaatar, April 2, 2024. /MONTSAME/. The FIBA Asia Cup 2024 took place in Singapore on March 27-31, 2024. A total of 23 men's teams and 20 women's teams competed in the tournament. Notably, the Mongolian National 3x3 Men's and Women's Teams made history by winning two bronze medals, marking the first time Mongolia has achieved such success in the tournament. 

In an exciting display of strength and skill, Mongolia's men's team made their mark in the early stages of the competition. They kicked off their campaign with a hard-fought victory over Sri Lanka, securing a 15-13 triumph. Building on this momentum, they continued their winning streak by defeating Thailand with a solid score of 20-14. As they progressed to the Quarter-Finals, Mongolia faced a formidable challenge in the match against Qatar. However, they remained resolute and emerged victorious with an impressive score of 19-11. The Semi-Finals proved to be a fierce battle as Mongolia clashed with Australia, the reigning champions. Despite their valiant effort, Mongolia fell short to Australia, who demonstrated a brilliant performance resulting in a 21-11 victory. Mongolia experienced a setback during their campaign, but they managed to recover and emerged victorious in the Bronze Medal match against New Zealand. The match was thrilling, with both teams putting up a tough fight, but Mongolia secured a hard-earned victory with a score of 21-18. This win allowed them to claim the bronze medal and end their campaign on a high note. Superstar Anand Ariunbold, last year's hero, produced a splendid performance with 15 points and sank two free throws to seal Mongolia's fifth men's medal. 

Mongolia's women's team showed their dominance right from the start of the tournament, delivering exceptional performances that left their fans in wonder. Their journey began with a commanding victory over Malaysia, where they asserted their power with an impressive score of 21-4. Building on this vigorous start, they continued their winning streak by triumphing over the Philippines with a convincing score of 19-8. As they advanced to the Quarter-Finals, Mongolia faced an arduous challenge against China and delivered a stellar performance that resulted in a 20-7 victory. However, in the Semi-Finals, Mongolia's women's team's valiant Semi-Final fight ended in a 21-6 defeat to Australia. Mongolia won the bronze medal after beating Chinese Taipei 17-10. It was Mongolia's first women's medal at the Asia Cup since 2013 when they claimed silver. 

Anand Ariunbold from Mongolia's men's basketball team and Ariuntsetseg Bat-Erdene from Mongolia's women's basketball team were selected for the Team of the Tournament at the Asia Cup 2024.
