U.Khurelsukh: All Mongolists are Envoys of Knowledge and Wisdom to Promote Mongolia to the World
XII International Congress of Mongolists has opened today at the State Palace in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa delivered an opening remarks at the Congress. We present the full transcription of the speech.
Distinguished scholars and Mongolists,
Esteemed guests and delegates,
Ladies and gentlemen!
I wish to express my warm greetings to all who have come from every corner of the world to our beautiful country, the sacred hearth and home of the Great Mongol Nation.
“The International Congress of Mongolists” dates back 60 years since it was established following the “First Congress of Mongolian Language” that was held in Ulaanbaatar in 1959. We have successfully organized the congress during various social and political times, including the cold war, globalization, social transition, and pandemic and, today, we are hosting its 12th session.
More than 500 scholars and researchers from 27 countries are participating in the 12th International Congress of Mongolists. The participants shall present and discuss in depth their research findings in the fields of Mongolian history, anthropology, archeology, linguistics, literature, sociology, economy, law, foreign relations, and cultural heritage.
“Mongol studies” was founded several centuries ago upon the research, hard work, and efforts of generations of scholars who studied our statehood, history, and heritage, while assessing our contribution to the development of humanity and promoting it world-wide. Even today, Mongol studies continues to develop and expand.
The advancement of Mongol studies has brought to light the truth and facts about the history and heritage of Mongolians, elevated Mongolia’s prestige, and further strengthened the common values of the Mongolian people.
On behalf of our people, I wish to express our deepest gratitude to all the scholars and researchers who have, with great respect, devoted their lives and put their hearts and soul into continuing the development of Mongolian studies.
The XII International Congress of Mongolists organized under the theme “Pax Mongolia and Historical Experiences” is of great importance.
Temuujin, the man of the millennium, was born 860 years ago, and the title “Chinggis Khaan” was bestowed upon him for unifying the Mongolian people under governance, history, culture, and the rule of law, reviving the long-standing statehood, establishing the Great Mongol Nation under the power of the eternal sky, proclaiming the greatness of the Great Mongol Empire, igniting the glory of the Mongolian people, and establishing Pax Mongolica.
Last year, an international conference on Chinggis Khaan studies was successfully organized under the auspices of the President of Mongolia on the occasion of the 860th anniversary of the birth of Great Chinggis Khaan, with the participation of scholars and researchers from around the world. The Chinggis Khaan Museum was also built and opened its door last year.
The participants of the conference supported the initiative of the Head of State of Mongolia and established the "International Association of Chinggis Khaan Studies", which was an important step for Mongol studies, in particular, the Chinggis Khaan studies.
In recent years, Mongolia’s foreign relations have been expanding and strengthening at the international fora, and last year, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres announced Mongolia as “a symbol of peace” during his visit to Mongolia.
This is an appreciation of the fact that we, modern Mongolians, have inherited and continued to uphold the centuries-old thoughts and values of the Mongolian statehood of maintaining and respecting peace and living in harmony.
Mongolia will continue to actively contribute to the deeds for global peace, for the well-being and security of mankind and will further strengthen its stance.
