First Block of Buuruljuut Power Plant to be Operational in October
For the first time, Ulaanbaatar City traded bonds worth MNT 500 billion on the domestic capital market, and invested MNT 300 billion in the Buuruljuut Power Plant. As a result, the first block, with a capacity of 150 MW, is set to be operational by October 2024.
The Buuruljuut Power Plant, located in Bayanjargalan soum of Tuv aimag, 120 km from Ulaanbaatar City, is planned to have a total capacity of 600 MW, divided into four blocks. Currently, 72 percent of the work on the first block is completed. The GIS 220 kV outdoor switchgear equipment has been installed, and the exterior construction has finished. Additionally, column A, transformer connections, equipment installation, insulation, precise measurement cable connections, and the three-phase high-voltage discharge have been completed.
Furthermore, 85 percent of the coal bunker for the boiler has been assembled. Construction is ongoing for the buildings to house air compressor, ESP electric filter, circulation water pump, and industrial wastewater pump stations. The second block is expected to be operational in 2025. Once both blocks are commissioned, the plant will produce up to 2.1 billion kWh of electricity annually.
Mayor of Ulaanbaatar and Governor of the Capital City, Kh.
