Celebrate the 35th National Book Festival on May 18-20
Under the auspices of Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia Zandanshatar Gombojav, the 35th National Book Festival will be held at Sukhbaatar Square on May 18-20, 2024.
The National Book Festival is a solemn celebration that attracts not only citizens of the Capital, but also publishers, writers, and publishing agencies from foreign countries. This year, the Festival's official program will be available in Mongolian and English, with simultaneous translation provided for guests, highlighting the growing international importance of the National Book Festival.
Representatives from two prestigious international agencies were invited to attend the 35th National Book Festival by the NGO "Nomiin Soyolt Yertunts." They will meet with Mongolian publishing companies during the Festival.
Also, representatives from Andrew Nurenberg Associates and Introtema Copyright and Translation Agency arrived with full scholarships as part of the Fellowship Program provided by the NGO "Nomiin Soyolt Yertunts." The Fellowship Program aims at connecting Mongolian publishers with international publishing houses and intermediary agencies, introducing the Mongolian book market to the world, obtaining the copyright of books without participating in foreign book fairs, and creating opportunities for Mongolian authors to offer their works to foreign publishing houses.
Additionally, representatives from Steppe & World Publishing in Kazakhstan arrived to present a variety of children's books to publishing companies in Mongolia.
During the Festival, participants have the opportunity for multifaceted interactions, including meeting representatives of the Editors' Club under the NGO "Nomiin Soyolt Yertunts," seeking advice from an intellectual property lawyer, and collaborating with bookstores such as Majestic Bookstore. They can also arrange meetings with managers to discuss how to display books in the 70 branches of the Mongolian Nomin Store.
The Festival will be a whirlwind of fascinating events. Highlights include the Award Ceremony of the "Book's Best Friend," named after the Speaker of the Parliament, and the "Book Grant," named after the Governor of the Capital City and the Mayor of Ulaanbaatar, to support the culture of reading. Additionally, attendees can enjoy art performances, new book launches, the introduction of the "50 Facts About Animals" Book, fun games, flash mobs, and a variety of other exciting activities initiated by youth.
