- 2024-05-14
President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa visited household planting and nursing trees on “National Tree Planting Day” on May 11, 2024.
President Khurelsukh visited the home of Munkhjargal Tsevegjav in the 19th Khoroo of Chingeltei District, Ulaanbaatar. Ts. Munkhjargal works as a driver at the shoe factory, while his wife is retired after working as a quality inspector. They live with their two granddaughters.
Since 2008, they have been growing 32 varieties of trees in their 0.007-hectare yard, such as elm, birch, cedar, larch, pine, hackberry, almond, blackcurrant, seabuckthorn, dwarf apple, and hawthorn. The family is also planting trees along their street. This household harvests 200 kilograms of seabuckthorn and 20 kilograms of apples a year and sells the surplus to others.
They mentioned that after the “One Billion Trees” National Campaign started, people buying saplings and seedlings from them increased dramatically and that they gave advice on how to foster the trees. Furthermore, they said living well on their property depends on the individual, family effort, and hard work.
President expressed gratitude to Munkhjargal and his family for exemplifying the possibility of creating a green and healthy environment in one's own yard through tree planting while generating additional revenue.
